About me

Claire Thacker is an Edinburgh based artist with a passion for the weird and wonderful. She specialises in 3D animation and digital art and also holds a newly found strong interest in stop-motion.

In 2003, she graduated from Edinburgh College of Art receiving a BA (hons) in Tapestry. Whilst here she was intensely drawn towards digital media and Photoshop became her best friend and most powerful weapon. After realising still images weren't enough, she went on to study at Glasgow School of Art, graduating in 2008 with an MPhil in 2D/3D Motion Graphics.

Following this, Claire was picked from 250 applicants for one of five places on the Skillset/Creative Scotland funded training scheme, G.A.S.P (Generating Animation Skills Programme). This apprenticeship gave her invaluable experience working in Scotland's animation industry and saw her working on a wide variety of projects including computer games, game trailers, TV cutscenes and short animations in prestigious companies such as Realtime Worlds, Axis Animation and Once Were Farmers.

Since G.A.S.P, Claire has been involved with many exciting projects including the animated series, The Imp, and an animated feature film trailer at Super Umami. Most recently Claire worked on the multi award-winning short animation by Jessica Ashman, Fixing Luka.
