Dear Sir or Madam,
RE: Graduate Creative Assistant
I am excited to apply for the position and consider this unique opportunity. I am drawn to your reputation, fantastic values and your creative vision; a process I would be proud to be involved in. I am fun, enthusiastic and highly creative, eager to be part of your exciting, fast paced, collaborative team, and to relocate to London. I will bring an open minded approach and I am keen to challenge myself. I love all areas of design and remain aware of latest design news. I can offer my exceptional attention to detail, natural talent for idea generation, brilliant sense of colour and love for typography and photography. I value close relationships with clients, as a result of my freelance experience, which has honed my organisational, communication and administration skills. I believe my ambition and compelling desire to learn, combined with my professional experience and studies, confirm my ability to fulfil everything you require.
My placement with Big Fish confirmed my ambition to pursue a career in a design. I thrived as part of a team: communicating confidently and openly with colleagues. I redesigned a client's website in collaboration with the web design team. Their positive feedback noted the energy and colour I brought to the design. It taught me consistency, speed, and to trust my initiative. I observed familiar processes: client negotiations, software use, critiques and collaboration. I gained invaluable insight into responsibilities, commitments and standards in a professional design studio.
I recently received exceptional feedback having completed Kitchen Textiles designs for Waitrose 2015 Autumn homeware. I produced further designs for napkins, mugs and stationery. Waitrose commissioned me following the great success of a series of cards, featuring in their 'Supporting New Talent' Graduate Collection, which I designed during a work placement with Hallmark Cards.
I graduated from BA Illustration at University College Falmouth. I loved being part of a studio environment on a daily basis. Across packaging, branding, advertising, poster and book jacket design, I relished problem solving; projects that challenged my eye for composition and my understanding of the relationship between text and image. As well as extensive knowledge of print processes, I am confident using Photoshop, InDesign and Illustrator. I also designed and built my website. As a perfectionist, I am persistent and satisfied greatly by achieving beautiful, professional results to the highest quality finish.
I am a highly motivated, passionate and reliable person. With relevant academic focus, first hand industry experience, current design knowledge and a first-class work ethic, I believe I will be an asset to your company. I would be delighted to be considered for this fantastic opportunity, and promise to give my full dedication to the role. Thank you for your time.
Best Regards
Claire Jelly
