The Gathering at Garst
Event Founding | Brand Identity | Illustrated Event Map | Collateral & Website Design

A founding creative role in one of Greenville, Ohio's most beloved annual events — from naming the event to building its entire visual identity from the ground up.

The Gathering at Garst launched in 2011 as a partnership with the Garst Museum — a two-day historical festival celebrating living history, artisan vendors, local food, and community on the scenic museum grounds. As a founding committee member, the scope of creative work covered every touchpoint of the event's public identity: the event name itself, logo design, illustrated event map, all print and digital collateral, and the original event website.

The illustrated event map — designed to orient attendees across the festival grounds including the Garst Museum, Prairie Ridge Meadow, vendor areas, parking, and the main stage — became a signature piece of the event's annual collateral. Warm, accessible, and distinctly illustrated, the map balanced wayfinding functionality with the festive character of the event itself.

The event ran successfully for over a decade under the original brand before being transitioned to the Darke County Parks District in 2023 — where it continues as an annual tradition drawing vendors, performers, and community members each July.
