ABOUT

The story goes that a couple of cowboys were out in the Basin of Craig Colorado, when a tri-color mustang appeared. One cowboy turned to the other and said, "Look at that horse: it's a Picasso!" And the name stuck. I don't know if the story is true, but Picasso had a following of over 12 thousand on a Facebook page and erstwhile photographers would travel out to the wilds of northeastern Colorado to attempt to capture his image. It was Scott Wilson who grabbed the most memorable shot and I collaborated with Scott to paint this image and enter into a mural competition in Golden, Colorado. We won, and the mural was completed in November 2020, around the time that the 30 year old mustang apparently passed away.
