ABOUT
Trchnatar: The Art of Armenian Bird Letters is a visual exploration inspired by the Armenian alphabet, where each letter is reimagined as a bird-like form. The project merges typography, symbolism, and illustration to create expressive characters that carry both linguistic and visual meaning.
Rooted in Armenian cultural heritage, “Trchnatar” (meaning “bird letters”) transforms abstract letterforms into living, dynamic shapes. Each composition reflects the rhythm, movement, and personality of birds, while still preserving the structural essence of the original letters.
The project sits at the intersection of typography and illustration, exploring how letterforms can evolve beyond traditional reading systems into artistic and conceptual visual identities. It highlights the flexibility of script as both a communicative tool and a medium for storytelling and cultural expression.
