About me

My name is Chris Taylor, I am a Post Production Editor from the South of England. I have just received a Masters in Post Production Editing at Bournemouth University. The course has taught me a lot about how to editing and ways to edit, I have worked on short and long form work, including a Cross Platform Children's Television show (Cross platform is the combination of various aspects of media - Editors, Directors, Producers, Screenwriters and Radio Producers) and working on long and short form films with Directors and/or Producers. I am currently working as a freelance

I have worked on several paid professional pieces of work for the University's Production Company, Red Balloon. These include a DVD for Poole Council and a video for Professional Aircraft Training (PAT). The Poole council video was guidelines detailing what would happen during a child protection conference, which would be distributed to professionals and the families involved in the conference. This DVD is currently being pitched to other councils nationwide. The PAT Video was used to demonstrate how a new Satellite Navigation system for small Aircrafts work. This was used in a presentation for the PAT. I have found that these videos helped me learn a great deal about working, especially with the clients and producers, suggesting how it could be improved.

Since these projects I have worked on a few more projects, one for the 2010 Qualitative Research Conference and another one for the Nuffield Health medical centre in Bournemouth.
I have also attended a weeks work experience at a production company in London, Zero DB. I learned a lot about being an assistant Editor, including setting up a tape deck, striping a tape, and setting up an Avid conform. I also got a chance to see how TV shows were produced, Zero DB produced TV shows for Channel Four (Snow Bombing Festival 2010) and for a TV show in the US called Ballrun - which had to be sent to the US via an internet server. I felt that this experience was invaluable and hopefully I can return to do another weeks works experience there before the end of my course.

I am currently trained in Final Cut Pro, Color, After Effects, Motion and Photoshop. I am very good at creating graphics and working with after effects, I have designed several logos for collegues production companies. I am also training myself to use Avid, Soundtrack Pro, Cinema 4D and Shake. I believe that having these creative skills is important to the modern editor, i feel that in this modern era you need to be able to do more than editing.
I am currently working as a freelance editor, but I would like something a little more permanent. I am also willing to relocate should the job require it.

I have attached a copy of my cv along with a link to my youtube site which will display some of my long form work, short form and promo work, and some After Effects and Cinema 4D work.
I hope you enjoy the videos and I hope to hear from you soon.

Chris Taylor
