In 2019, 90 lives were lost to knife crime in London. 1 every 4 days. Police often have little to act on. People are often reluctant to report information, so find it hard to call the police. To overcome this, we gave them something more powerful than their reservations. The human stories behind knife crime statistics. Radio was the perfect medium to give six mothers of murdered sons a voice to talk directly and intimately to our audience. They told their heart-breaking stories through traumatic calls they made after their child was stabbed. While struggling to control their emotions, each relived the most traumatic call of their lives in compelling but agonising detail, showing what a hard call really is. Independent charity Crimestoppers allows people to speak up against crime, anonymously.
