I am a UK graduate with a 2:1 BA in Computer Games Design and I'm getting in contact to apply for the advertised position of Junior Designer. I have recently completed a two month design internship at Spark44, the advertising agency exclusively serving Jaguar Land Rover, and I am looking for opportunity to further expand my professional digital media experience.
I'm certain you would find me an excellent fit for this role as I know have the tools to meet the task. To begin with I spent a large quantity of time with Spark44 creating assets for Jaguar. These were primarily produced by manipulating photographs with Photoshop but I also have experience creating characters for video games with Illustrator. These designs were all created accurately to wireframes as precision was a massive concern working at that agency. To prove that I have sufficient experience using CSS and HTML I would direct you to my portfolio at chrisbellconcepts, this website is produced using a custom Wordpress theme that I put together. Another of my tasks at Spark44 was to design advergames to accompany the launch of new cars. These were required to reflect the Jaguar brand message and effectively portray it the player with gameplay, visuals and audio. While I cannot demonstrate what I have created (as it is under NDA) I can assure you that the briefs were to a high standard; I will provide references as required. Finally, I have a wealth of experience designing with UX in mind; while working for both Spark44 and my own company, Sapient Studios, I created games and apps for use in multi-platform environments. A good example would be a client presentation tool I created for Spark44 for demonstration to business clients. This tool had to work interactively on iPad but also function as a Powerpoint presentation for boardrooms.
On top of all that I have a strong foundation of admin experience under my belt; I spent a year assisting with ad-hoc office protocol and managing databases for UKBA in Hong Kong and in the final year of my degree I managed and led a team of 9 for two full semesters. Many people learn most effectively on the job and I am no exception, I am more than happy to brush up on unfamiliar software packages and techniques before I start so I can best emulate your excellent standard of work as soon as possible.
