ABOUT
While I was freelancing at Franklin Rd Post, an email came in asking if anyone wanted to do the sound design for a music video. The job was unpaid, but I jumped at the chance to work on it as I had never worked on a music video before. The director provided me with two references, shot in a similar style to this music video. There was no on set sound, so all the sound design was to be created from scratch.
I tried to create a number of different ambiences/space throughout the video, ranging from the middle of a dance floor to in a car with a really crappy stereo. Some of the sounds I chose were meant ironically, for example the leaf blower sounds in the car shot and I sought to exaggerate other scenes, like the war scene near the beginning. I worked with Jason Bock (director) in the studio and threw ideas back and forth over a weekend. The video has long since been released and was featured on the popular Majestic Casual playlist.
