ABOUT

Summertime is part of the ongoing abstract creation of the season, expressing the subject in a variety of techniques. This piece is created using swatches of intense colour, a variety of colour and patterned fabrics cut into squares and layered to produce swatches representing a border of flowers in a summer garden. Swatches are hand stitched onto a background of green patchwork , with additional hand embroidery embellishing the surface. Swatches are versatile, the layers not stitched down and freely mobile, adding a freedom of movement and depth to the surface.
