About me

Hello, my name is Caryn Dames. I am from South Africa and grew up in Dubai, and moved to the UK four years ago to complete my undergraduate degree in law at Durham University. I graduated in June 2020 with a 2:1. I am a strong academic all-rounder, and whilst studying law I have developed my critical thinking and analytical skills. I am currently completing a Master's in Fashion and Lifestyle Marketing at GCU London. Whilst I initially decided to complete a law degree as I felt it would give me a broad base of knowledge, my passion for marketing and fashion has continued to grow. Undertaking roles such as marketing coordinator, events manager, campus head-hunter, and charity fashion show member has demonstrated to me that I can hone the skills I gained in my law degree in conjunction with my creative ability to pursue a career that I am passionate about.

Having lived in South Africa, Dubai, and now the UK, I have always sought to understand different societies and the lifestyles and qualities that define them. My exposure to this diverse range of cultures has become an intrinsic part of my understanding of the influence and impact marketing can have. As our world has become increasingly global through social media and technology, marketing has become a key part of challenging boundaries and breaking down international borders that in the past have stood in the way.
