About me
Dear One Dog Consultants Recruitment Team,
My name is Caroline Slade and I am writing in application for the position of Conceptual Copywriter with the advertised creative team. I am an experienced and confident writer who loves copywriting as an opportunity to collaborate creatively with others and realise intangible concepts through words.
Since moving to London, I have been freelance copywriting for renowned brand and design agency Pearlfisher. I have worked alongside account directors, designers and strategists to interpret briefs and liaise with national and international clients such as Cadbury, Dole and Crabtree and Evelyn. In addition to creating copy for packaging and books, my work has involved copyediting, proofreading, name generation, strap line creation and brand story development. A particular highlight was being asked to create and edit copy for Cadbury's brand book. Being a globally recognised brand, Cadbury require continuity in their well established message but they also look to be progressive with their aesthetic.
I have recently completed a Master of Arts in English Literature and Film and so not only am I an experienced researcher and writer but I have excellent analytical and comprehension skills. As a copywriter, being able to employ different tones in different mediums (online, digital, print etc) for different target audiences is vital. The role social media can play for brands trying to harness new and existing audiences in a fresh, immediate way is an exciting development in the industry.
In my prior role at the Teachers' Council, I was asked to be a key writer on the website team, responsible for relaunching the website used by thousands of teachers worldwide. I undertook a certificate in writing for the web through professional development to further enhance my understanding of how to create compelling copy that is accessible and user-friendly.
To further enhance my skillset, I accepted an internship at The Telegraph (Telegraph Media Group) on the Culture Desk. During this placement I created, edited and uploaded content for their digital and print publications. Key to my success in this role was an ability to research and write to daily deadlines and manage my time efficiently. This role was incredibly rewarding as an opportunity to source and edit images and write to a ready readership using language that is concise, authorial but engaging.
I have had significant experience in media offices and roles where I need to adjust to new teams and office systems quickly. I am a confident user of Apple and all Microsoft products including Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint as well as Photoshop. I have an adaptable, creative writing style, I embrace working with others and I would love the opportunity to be part of this team.
Thank you for considering my application and I look forward to hearing from you.
Yours sincerely,
Caroline Slade.
