ABOUT
The intention is to sew together the collective space in the transversal sense, seeking to regularize the interstitial void by using a grid that bends and raises allowing to discover new layers of program, that are the havens within the fluid traverse. The existing buildings, whether they belonged or not to Villanueva’s original plan, were preserved as the definers of the void in-between. The generic elements of design that were selected during the previous stage were used in the various areas with the aim of creating places.
The folds of the grid are depressed to define sport courts, elevated and perforated to allow light into study areas, creased to create furniture for the plazas and transformed into structural walls to carry the path onto higher levels. The pavement emphasizes the transversal connection using green-colored concrete and the pixel as an elementary module and contemporary component.
