ABOUT

The concepts around this project was a response to the COVID-19 pandemic's effects on limiting access to my studio-practice during my final year at University. This limited access to my usual materials and processes of Screen-printing and painting led me to adjust my working practice to a more street-oriented process.

The work's featured in this series are created from poster paper sourced from Manchester's streets. When acquiring these materials, I noticed that layers underneath the paper would also be attached. This realisation allowed me to communicate a factor of change that advertisement occurs in the urban landscape denoting the over-saturated nature that modern cities now are accustomed to.

My approach to making this series of involved using layering of material onto the surface then de-constructing the paper revealing it's hidden layers of colour, text and image manipulated to create an abstract form that was influenced through public graffiti.

These work's will be on-show at Manchester Metropolitan Universities Holden Gallery in Spring 2022 I hope you can get the chance to see them in person!
