Glenmorangie Tarlogan is part of the brand’s exclusive ‘Legends’ Travel Retail Collection, each expression celebrating a legendary story of the lands that surround the Glenmorangie Distillery. We first identified the overriding and individual concepts, before designing the range’s packaging. Tarlogan is inspired by the legend of a Pictish chieftan of the same name, who it is said gave his name to the pure Tarlogie Spring that provides Glenmorangie’s precious water. Taking inspiration from the woodland that surrounds the Tarlogie spring, the packaging is wrapped in a rich, forest green, metallic finish, accented with splashes of Glenmorangie gold, used to pick out key details such as the design’s central icon. Derived from a Pictish ceremonial shield and containing within it a representation of a Pictish chieftan on horseback, the device is framed by richly detailed, sculpturally debossed natural forms that pay homage to the intricate stone carvings of the Pictish people.
