In recent weeks, we had the opportunity to take part in a project that took us for 15 days into the pristine nature of the mountains of South Tyrol; together with Armando Traverso , presenter, author, and historic figure of Rai, and director Marco Lorenzo Maiello , we filmed the second season of a Rai Kids series inspired by the legends of Fanes.
For two weeks, we worked side by side with a close-knit crew—part of which reunited after the winter shoot of another series we shot in the same mountainous areas—and with a very young and energetic cast. The project, halfway between fairytale and epic, allowed us to express ourselves with all our creativity and technical expertise: from everyday scenes to the darkest and most frenetic, from chases through the woods to moments suspended in mystery.
Much more than a set. It was an adventure!
We loaded our gear onto a Ram 4X4 driven by a local guide, who took us—and our flycases—up to the refuges at over 2,000 meters. From there, on foot, with our gear on our backs, we reached a silent mountain lake: one of those places that takes your breath away before you've even started filming.
We filmed in numerous locations such as the Parco delle Civette, surrounded by 110 birds of prey including owls, tawny owls and the king of the Alps, the golden eagle , looking for the best way to intertwine the strength of nature with the delicacy of the narrative.
During our rare breaks, we indulged in brief but refreshing dips in mountain streams, surrounded by the whistling of marmots and a still-untouched landscape, where nature reigns supreme thanks to the sparse human presence.

The shoot was primarily done with the Sony FX6 Cinema Camera , a reliable companion even in the most extreme conditions. We worked with a range of versatile and fast lenses: the 24-50mm f/2.8 was our go-to on many sets, alongside the 12-24mm for wider settings and the 70-200mm for more intimate, narrative moments.

To ensure image control in the field, the SmallHD 503 High Bright monitor , which never abandoned us even under the mountain sun. For stabilization, we relied on the DJI Ronin S3 Pro and Tilta Advanced Ring Grip combination , with Easyrig Stabil support , ideal for longer sessions and complex movements in the woods.

All efficiently powered by the lightweight yet powerful FXLion Nano 2 – a proven setup that allowed us to move with agility without sacrificing quality.
