Clarity Agency wanted something cinematic to launch the d-fly hyper scooter. Their concept involved a dragonfly descending from above into a city, ground to a halt by the rush hour grind. They liked the idea of the scooter leaving a light trail behind as a precursor to its dramatic reveal. I wanted something that didn't feel too CGI and had an analogue feel to the effects. So the trails were kind of real; we filmed a series of long exposures using a stills camera on location so that they could be used as a moving video layer. The dragonfly was created by editing live action footage and macro shots of a rotating preserved insect. I decided to edit this one hands on. The effects were then enhanced at Envy Post Production who also created the incredible sound design mix using a sound track created by Betto Music.
