Playing with Light

During the development of the materials used for this model, I became aware of just how much detail I could add to each surface. And while not all aspects of this will be used in every project to its full depth, there is a certain flexibility and potential that comes with knowing the extent to which each material mimics its real counterpart.

The last hurdle in this pursuit lies with navigating hardware limitations. While dreaming of more capable tools is an artist's habit, knowing how to best use the ones at hand is a duty. As such, I must prepare my materials, my renders, my workflow to work as efficiently as possible within my gears' ability.

My goal doesn't lie with speed or perfection. It lies with balance. Over this series, I seek to bring you multiple looks into the same materials, different studies of the visuals they produce, and a final product that uses only what is necessary.
