ABOUT
Clean Look
As a swan song to this model, I have decided to forego the most intense debris and battle damage in lieu of a more toned down road dirt look. That light layer of pulverized rubber and asphalt which sets over the body after a long drive. The base livery is also gone. This is now a road car. Call it a homologation special.
I took this last part of the trilogy to focus on image quality by sheer brute force. High resolution, high samples, simple lighting. Exposed long enough to eliminate almost every single firefly the water may cause. A couple of these took hours to render. And while it may not be practical to do so, it is rather interesting to see what could be accomplished with a few extra resources.
The single most important shot of this collection is the one first presented. 3D artist often deal with ray tracing and bounce settings looking for how much impact it can really have on their scenes. Well here is a clear example of what can be achieved:
Focus on the passenger side window. In it you'll see the reflection of the skylight. You may be forgiven for thinking this is just some random detail within the cockpit. Look closely. And that is not all. You're seeing that reflection through one of five panes of glass which lay in between the car and the camera. And for the pièce de résistance, look at the car's reflection in the water. You'll see the reflection of the skylight, on the car's window, through the glass panes, reflecting on the water's surface.
