The Future of the Sport

This project started off as a series of sketches based on late model, modified, and stock car racers. While none of them were good, the concept stuck. I had a few candidates in mind, all muscle cars from the late 60s and early 70s. And then I saw a certain TV series episode with a white and blue Camaro.

The execution itself was fairly untroubled up until the moment came to pick a final look for the images. I tried a futuristic, albeit spartan living room. A sci-fi inspired corridor. An oval track's pit lane. And even with the last one fitting the bill, it felt off in some strange way. Hence the concrete monument you see.

As for the build itself, it started off as a 1969 Camaro. A popular choice.
The first addition was the absolutely massive bodykit with the F40-derived wheels. In fact, the entire bottom half on each side should look familiar.
The front got simplified, with the usual chin gone and a modified series style front was cut and fitted onto it.
The grill itself went through a couple of iterations. I was initially inspired by the retractable headlight covers often seen on this model. In the end I went for a clear version derived from the one seen in Poker Face's "The Future of the Sport". This way it doubles as an outer glass for the new headlight modules I made.
The rear got absolutely demolished in the process of bringing this thing to shape. I tested several taillight arrangements but none felt as special as what I had designed for the front. And then it hit me - it doesn't need any. Had it had them, they would have been tucked away inside the glass panel you see bearing the letters 'RCSP'.
The final touch was the carbon fiber fins and the tweaked ducktail. Aero should be seen throughout the body. Not just at the rear.
