ABOUT
35 inches tall
F1 wasn't always raced in open wheel cars. One of the earliest examples was the mythical Silver Arrow, which sometimes raced with an aerodynamic body covering the wheels almost completely. And while those days were far gone by the time the Lotus 49 was racing, one can't help but wonder what if. What if covered wheels were once again permitted. What if the Lotus 49 platform was compatible with some other set of regulations and all it needed was a full body shell?
Looking like something you'd find in a Hot Wheels blister package, the GT35 Concept introduces a few eccentric ideas. The most obvious one, the new body, is fixed on top of the original one. The nose was removed to accommodate for the transplanted Ford GT40 MkI shell. The shell itself was modified to suit a middle seat driving position along side an open cockpit. The seat itself is now flanked by two rows of far flung intakes. Up front, headlight mounts are replaced with intakes for the brake cooling. And finally, there's the double wing setup at the rear, integrated into the shell's design.
This work is a part of a trio of experimental designs based on classic F1.
