ABOUT

Il Prototipo del Castello Cavalcanti

The last experimental design in this trio takes the form of yet another LeMans prototype. Born almost two before the F40's dawn, the 512 M was the basis for this design. Not to be confused with the third Testarossa iteration, the F 512M. And similar nomenclature aside, there is very little shared between the two.

Today we're focusing on the track monster from 1970. Here shown with an almost intact presentation from the shoulder line up. There are, however, two very notable additions on either side. The integrated sidepod-like radiators are now accompanied by bonafide sidepods.

Responsible by the safety features, with the controls readily accessible to the track marshals. This design pulls heavily from the kitsch side of cyberpunk. The oversized panels with almost undeclared function, backed by an over-reliance on "safety features" to justify their aesthetic. Perhaps safety stripes and very prominent warning labels would be warranted on a 2.0 version.

Finally, there is the set itself. While Spartan in features, the skylight illumination provides a vibrant pop in the colorful bodywork. There is also the faint touch of retro achieved in forcing the "camera" to work though such a violent contrast in light. This concludes my present study of Ferrari design in exclusivity.

This work is a part of a trio of vintage Ferrari redesigns.
