ABOUT

E-Type, meet GTO.

As the anecdote goes, Enzo Ferrari found the E-Type the most beautiful automobile in the world. Why not marry it to the legend from Maranello. From the cabin forwards this Long Wheel Base has been endowed with the E-Type's front shell. Which was then itself modified to fit the GTO's appearance.

The second exercise in this Ferrari trio, the 250 GTO LWB adopts the Jaguar front as if a solution to aerodynamics, packaging or structure needed by the ultimate racing machine. This transplant brings a friendlier face juxtaposed by a more prominent power bulge. Rounder contours hide a longer distance between the axles for a planted stance. Smoother lines support long wind stabilizers running the length of the hood which double as protection from debris.

But it is perhaps the rest that draws the eye of the connoisseur. The exhaust placement is akin to some of the later chassis before the progressive redesign that resulted in the 1964 GTO. The updated rear features a clean and simple end to better stand the test of time. Every other curve was kept, as no reason for change was presented.

This work is a part of a trio of classic Ferrari redesigns.
