The Noisy One

The third and final entry in my analogue aesthetic trio. It has been quite the visual experiment, pushing LuxCore to its limits in search of the tones, depth and overall essence of retro photography. And while I don't plan on keeping any particular look, it has been extremely rewarding when it comes to learning how to better control the different factors that go into making an image mimic a particular era in technology.

As for the outlandish vehicle you see, it started off as a track-ready 1972 BMW 3.0 CSL. A very aggressive-looking car in its own right, I decided to give it a push. And what a push it was.

Starting with the body, you'll notice some curious additions to the sides, just below the doors. With a central driving position, elements from the Group C legend, the Mazda 787-B were introduced for a better weight distribution which leaves most of the car from the middle of the door up practically hollow. And keeping up with the extreme changes, all four wheels have been pushed outwards. The wheels are now protected by the vertical stabilizers mimicking the shape of a very extreme racing body shell.

As if butchering the lines of a timeless design wasn't enough, further modifications were made for the sake of performance. Perhaps even more prominent than any changes to the body is the gigantic cool air intake system. Originally designed for my mid-engined Mercedes 190 Evo II, the large V8 looks rather extreme bolted to the front of a 70's racecar focused on weight reduction. The entire front has been opened up to the point where it might as well not even be there. Air intakes dominate this rather extreme design.

Other comparatively smaller but not entirely discrete changes include far wider tires bearing modified Ferrari P4 wheels. A gigantic splitter and diffuser combo dominating the lower third of the car's appearance, along with the aforementioned 787-B elements. And a sleek, shark fin inspired wing that would look at home on a 993's rear.

The idea for this design was to hand an hypothetical race team an empty shell from a CSL and say "make it fast, go nuts". With a "cut it if it gets in the way" attitude and more sheet metal than sense, this was the result.
