ABOUT
From the beginning, the client wanted the film to be personal and intimate, almost like a teaser or an invitation. Just one journey, one perspective.
The temptation to show every temple, volcano, and white sand beach in a travel film can be overwhelming, and you miss the textures and images flashing by as you travel through a country. So, what would a travel film look like from one perspective, and how do you shoot it?
The answer was you shoot it for real from one perspective! But for it to be personal and intimate, the ACTUAL journey must be included. Cue the family holiday and using my wife and seven-year-old as crew. He got paid in Lego, and she got cool Batik stuff.
I shot on everything I owned and some I didn’t on the journey from home to the coast and back. Nikon | Red Cinema ZR was my new camera of choice, along with my Leica Q343, DJI Drone, and even using the iPhone ProRes Log with a tiny magnetic external drive for water shots. Edit, CG, music, and grade all done by the team at S68.
Making this was a gift, and the door is now open to showing other journeys, so book here and make your own; mates’ rates may apply.
