Concept
I was asked to speak at a special event for our community and in addition, I pitched the idea to produce a video that depicted another figure in the community doing great work. The client loved the idea and selected MATC Educator, Amparo Moreno.

Execution
I wanted to produce an intimate and heartfelt look into the life of Amparo Moreno, so before any filming began, I spent a few days getting to know Amparo and interviewing her so I could better understand her values, purpose, and life. Amparo and I became good friends and when the day came to interview her she felt safe and comfortable enough to share her life experiences and why she cares so much about education. Production spanned over a week of filming and two weeks of postproduction.

Results
The client quickly fell in love with the film and had two special showings of it at the conference and it was received with a standing ovation, the first I experienced in my career as a director.
