ABOUT

Set by Glug and Mainframe, a 15-30 second explainer video was required for the ‘Glug for Good’ initiative, encouraging creatives to design a t-shirt for Pride London 2021. Targeting social platforms, the video needed to communicate the campaign details and how to take part. Completed as part of the Motion Design Professional course by Created Academy.

Demonstrating the creativity, support and equality that drives Pride and the campaign, paper figures outline the process through their connectivity and form.

Existing outside the LGBTQ+ community, a deep-dive was conducted both into Pride and its origins, to gain a greater understanding of the event and its purpose. Researching Glug, similarities between the two were recognised: support and celebration.

Split into sections to lessen hardware strain, the entire sequence was constructed in Cinema 4D. Through use of booleans, the figure and t-shirt forms were easily generated, with dynamics orchestrating the rise and fall of the 3D cityscape and globe.

Smooth integration of text via After Effects proved challenging, the two components not quite melding together. With more time, greater emphasis would be placed on giving the text a less digital aesthetic. The voice-over would also be rerecorded to aid clarity, with more stringent instruction given prior.
