A two-phase brief set by Framestore Design Studio to produce a 30-second title sequence for the 2021 World Snooker Championship, to be broadcast on Eurosport. Completed as part of the Motion Design Professional course by Created Academy.

Having long held a reputation of being a gentleman’s sport, the titles needed to diversify the audience. Switching focus to the elemental formation of the balls, cue, table, rather than the players, allows viewers of all demographics to envision themselves holding the cue.

Successfully submitting the concept for Phase 1, for Phase 2 of the project the role of Creative Director was assumed. Managing a team of three, each storyboard was realised as a style frame.

Beyond the project requirements, the concluding scenes of the proposed titles were animated. Working entirely with dynamics to capture the break, mass and friction were fine-tuned to mimic a genuine shot. Lighting required careful integration to capture the flickering nature of the lightning, whilst blue/pink ambient lights throughout the sequence enforced the Eurosport brand.
