About me
Brad Lubin makes comedy that works the way the best comedy films do: the situation is absurd, but everyone in it plays it completely straight. The absurdity builds through committed logic, not mugging. The laugh arrives before the audience sees it coming. It's a technique that requires a director who controls tone the way a conductor controls an orchestra — one instrument too broad and the whole thing falls apart.
Trained under Peter and Bobby Farrelly and Craig Gillespie, Brad brings a feature filmmaker's command of craft to commercial work. His Irn-Bru campaigns for The Leith Agency became running national conversations. His Asda "Barnsley Baby" campaign for Lucky Generals revived one of the most iconic retail slogans in UK history. His House Simple "New Neighbors" and "Who's Derek
The awards came with it: four British Arrow nominations, two D&AD Next Director nominations, a Cannes Young Director Award nomination, a Gold Drum Roses Award, a Creative Circle Award, and a Kinsale Shark Film Award nomination. The Drum named his Irn-Bru "Wire" — shot alongside Game of Thrones cinematographer Fabian Wagner — its Ad of the Day. AdForum ranked one of his spots the number two ad in the world. Adweek featured him in a full profile piece. David Reviews gave four consecutive spots five stars — three reviewed by senior critic Andrew MacGregor, one by editor Jason Stone himself.
His clients include Netflix, Disney, Burger King, Ford, McDonald's, Asda, Walkers, Kettle Chips, , GoDaddy, Mars, Mentos, Twix, Staples, Pedigree, QuickBooks, and Little Caesars, among others.
