Concept

To promote the deluxe edition of her multi-platinum album A Perfect Contradiction, Paloma Faith sought to offer fans intimate, acoustic renditions of select tracks. The objective was to capture the raw essence of her music in a setting that mirrored the authenticity and emotion of the songs. The challenge lay in filming three distinct performances—“Only Love Can Hurt Like This,” “Trouble with My Baby,” and “Can’t Rely on You”—within a single day, ensuring each maintained its unique identity while contributing to a cohesive visual narrative.

Execution

Blonde orchestrated a one-day shoot in a beautifully appointed London home, creating a comfortable environment conducive to genuine performances. Utilising multiple cameras, each song was filmed several times to maximize footage for the edit. Post-production efforts focused on differentiating each video through tailored editing styles and color grading, aligning with the individual energy and mood of each track. This approach ensured that while the performances were part of a series, each stood out with its own visual and emotional tone.

Results

The campaign achieved remarkable success:
• “Only Love Can Hurt Like This” garnered over 30 million views on YouTube and is one of Paloma's most viewed performances, resonating deeply with audiences and becoming one of Paloma Faith’s most celebrated performances.
• “Trouble with My Baby” and “Can’t Rely on You” amassed over 3 million views, showcasing the song’s appeal and the effectiveness of the intimate setting, further solidifying the campaign’s impact.

Beyond view counts, the acoustic versions were featured on the deluxe edition of the album, providing fans with exclusive content and enhancing the album’s value. The project’s success underscored Blonde’s ability to deliver high-quality productions under tight time constraints, capturing the essence of the artist and her music.
