ABOUT

Promo for The Walking Dead to commemorate the 100th episode of the show.

This is a call you always want to get from a producer: Hey, do you want to make a Zombie show next week? There will be blood.

It's a 'Mercedes Benz' of extras roles: being a 'Walker'. Everybody wants to be a zombie! People travel for miles to 'read' for the chance to be on the show. We wanted to have a little fun with this and promote the show by creating a spoof 'X-Factor' style competition, with zombies!!

As always, no budget, so very little time! There was another zombie event in Shoreditch, so we camped out at a bar across the street and set up our mock stage hoping to hijack them for our spoof. Bring in the art department to make backdrops, hand props, signs, all the silly things people bring when they are queueing. We made it look so real the contentants didn't realize we were just funning!

Of course we got involved a little to make sure there were some over the top acts. I myself donned tap shoes and came in as a terrifically crap dancer to be coached by Louie Spence. I was going for a cross between 'Columbia' from Rocky Horror and 'New Girl'.

We are all huge fans of the show so we spent one fantastic weekend making fanboy props and geeking out to a high degree.

The results were fantastic, there were over 5500 shares on Facebook and Twitter, people didn't realise it was a spoof at first and we got flooded with people commenting, wanting to be on 'the show'. LOTS of user engagement and appreciation.

Best job ever!
