London, Wednesday, 22 May 2019: A new celebration of the best digital creative in the UK was announced today. BIMA Beat will be the only creative competition of its kind, created by and for the digital industry. It will officially launch at an event in London on Wednesday, 5 June. The competition is open to anyone, aiming to act like a ‘finger on the pulse’ of the UK’s dynamic, ever-changing digital industry.

BIMA Beat is a collaboration between the UK’s digital trade body BIMA, Sony Music UK’s 4th Floor Creative and Spotify. Judges, drawn from BIMA’s Creative Council, Spotify and Sony Music UK, will evaluate work based on its creativity, user experience, trends and overall innovation. Entrants respond to a theme and submit work online. Each quarter, a shortlist will be showcased on Instagram, and winners announced at an event before the next theme is released.

Dorothy Hui, Sony Music UK - 4th Floor Creative VP, Digital & Audience Development, shared, “We at Sony Music UK’s 4th Floor Creative continuously strive to deliver world-class innovative experiences that amplify our artists’ narrative. We’re excited to work with BIMA and Spotify to launch BIMA Beat as a way for Sony Music UK to celebrate and connect with the creative community that inspires us on a daily basis.”

Rob Walker, Global Director of Creative Solutions at Spotify - “Spotify’s mission is to unlock the potential of human creativity by giving a million creative artists the opportunity to live off their art, and billions of fans the opportunity to enjoy and be inspired by these creators. It is a privilege to act on this mission in the UK as we partner with BIMA and Sony Music to launch BIMA Beat. We're excited to hear from the incredibly talented UK creative community who inspire us daily, and get a front row seat as they push the boundaries of innovation and creativity."

Wayne Deakin, Chair of BIMA Creative Council - “The BIMA Creative Council is committed to supporting the UK creative community and we are delighted to have Sony Music UK’s 4th Floor Creative and Spotify on board to create a showcase of talent.
