ABOUT

Nearest Bomb Shelter was created to confront audiences with the uncomfortable truth: while most of Europe sees bomb shelters as historical artifacts, in Ukraine, they are a matter of daily survival. Launched during the 60th Venice Biennale, one of the world’s most prestigious cultural events, the campaign used a striking and unexpected fact—the nearest bomb shelter in Venice was located right next to the Ukrainian Pavilion. This eerie coincidence became the heart of our message: war isn’t far away, and peace must be actively protected.

The campaign mapped bomb shelters across Venice and asked visitors: Where is your nearest bomb shelter? Through posters, print materials, and a digital map, we turned a geopolitical issue into a deeply personal one. The Ukrainian Pavilion became more than an exhibition space—it became a chilling reminder of shared vulnerability. A dedicated landing page was created for users to explore maps, download awareness posters, and learn how to locate shelters in their own cities.

In just 72 hours, the campaign generated 113 media publications, including 5 in Tier 1 outlets, and 13.7 million impressions. Most importantly, it sparked action: Europeans across several countries asked for similar maps. In response, we expanded the idea beyond Venice, creating resources for cities including Barcelona, Lisbon, Paris, Krakow, Wroclaw, and London. What started as a Venice-specific installation became a growing movement, reinforcing the campaign’s central message—peace and art can only survive if we stand together to defend them.
