It was announced yesterday that PFA partners and UK based network 'Digital Sports Group' has launched a brand new Facebook page for the venerated Brazil and Chelsea winger, Willian Borges da Silva (known common simply as 'Willian').
“Producing great content you will not find anywhere else,”
In August of last year, Premier League mainstays Chelsea signed Willian from Anzhi Makhachkala, an ailing Russian Premier League team, which was purchased by billionaire Suleyman Kerimov back in 2011. The signing was made with a caveat, namely that Willian's work permit hearing went smoothly. It did, and on the 28th of August a deal was made, and the 25-year-old took the number 22 shirt on a five year contract for £32 million. The signing was made despite the fact that Willian had undergone a medical examination at rival club Tottenham Hotspurs. It's believed the deal was made after Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich appealed to the patriotism in his fellow countryman Kerimov to seal the deal.

Willian made his club debut on the 18th of September against FC Basel in the UEFA Champions League, and whilst the match ended in a 2-1 home defeat, the young midfielder made a commanding first impression on both the club and the fans. After featuring and performing well in wins against Steaua Bucharest in the Champions League and Swindon in the League Cup, Willian made his Premier League debut on the 6th of October in an away game with Norwich City. He scored his first goal for the club in what was a triumphant 3-1 victory. His second goal for Chelsea was scored on the 1st of January this year during a match with Southampton that resulted in a 3-0 victory.
“Since joining from Anzhi in the summer Willian has been a tremendous asset to Chelsea.”
Matthew Tait, the Head of operation at 'DSG', has said that “Since joining from Anzhi in the summer Willian has been a tremendous asset to Chelsea.” He has also said that he feels incredibly proud of his groups “Relationship with the Professional Footballers Association (PFA),” and that they will be “Producing great content you will not find anywhere else,” specifically for Willian's Facebook page. The players fans will also have a chance to vote for him in the prestigious FTBPRO PFA Fans Player of the Month award.
DSG Content Manager Jason Hope believed that the vital role Willian will undoubtedly play in the season will be reflected in the popularity of the page. He says “The stats don't lie and the fact that Willian has created 37 chances in just 17 games suggests that his form will directly affect Chelsea's title chances and other cup credentials.” He goes on to say that his group is excited to have been afforded the opportunity to build and help manage the page.
