ABOUT

The design brief for this project detailed the need for a Limited Edition classic Signature placement design, for PVC bags of various sizes, for the pre Spring/Summer range. The design should be simple, consisting of only the classic Harrods signature and a singular feminine motif, with the option of an additional pattern within. The material was specified as PVC with a solid coated Pantone foreground, and a matching glitter layer background.

In response to this brief, I chose a bow as the motif- feminine and simple; suitable for the Harrods Signature brand and female customer profile. The bow was drawn and separated in Illustrator to best showcase the glitter background. For added appeal, a spot pattern was added to the bow; a fun addition to the design, but still safely within the classic British brand style. I chose a mint green Pantone, which, after market research and comp-shopping, was found to be an on-trend colour at the time in fashion accessories. The pantone was approved by my seniors as fitting harmoniously within the rest of that season's products. In addition, the product was to be released in Spring, so the colour sat nicely between Autumn/Winter and the Summer release. Finally, previous healthy sales have been linked to the appeal of the Harrods signature being metallic gold or silver, so I chose silver to match the mint green.

The bags reached the bestsellers list and the bow design was subsequently added to a new product: umbrellas.
