The Space Race is a Sci-Fi Film Festival hosted by the BFI.

The design was inspired by the films featured at the festival. I wanted a sense of mystery and discovery as you open the brochure. As you unfold, which you can do in several ways, information is revealed about the event and the films. Once completely unfolded, the shape loosely resembles a space station. You can tear off a square if you only want information about that event, without losing an illustration (which would be on the back). I wanted people to collect the brochure, even if it was just a square.
I didn't want to use photographs in my brochure, as I felt this would take away the discovery element of my design. This is why I could to create simple illustrations that compliment the films without giving too much away. If someone wanted to find out more about a certain showing or the festival in general, they would visit the website which includes trailers, photos and trivia for each film.
