In May 2020, the murder of George Floyd by white police officers catalysed a wave of ongoing global protests against police brutality and racism. The Black Lives Matter movement spread quickly, and Vault49 felt passionately about using its voice and its craft to speak out. Going back to the roots of Vault49 – a street art collective who spent their evenings flypostering London to make it more beautiful – the team designed and hand-printed thousands of bold typographic posters, handing them out at protests and posting them on New York City's boarded-up storefronts to create as much noise as possible.
