ABOUT

Home is the human beings first world. It is where we feel most comfortable, but what happens when your home starts to resemble a cage. Mothered by my Father he raised me into a man, but with adulthood comes a lust for independence. Home is still where my heart is but I have to stop relying on m father to guide me through life, I have to make my own decisions, I have to move on.

Gaston Bachelard wrote that ‘Psychoanalysis sets the human being in motion, rather than at rest. It calls on him to live outside the abodes of his unconscious, to enter into life’s adventures, to come out of himself’. Behind the Curtains explores how I feel trapped as a child in my own home, how I have to stop relying on my father to look after me, how I know that the only way to break out of these feelings of infancy would be to leave home, but also how I am terrified to take the leap of faith. I’m at a forked road, one path will lead me to unknown, the other will lead me back to where I know best. This is the story of my struggle to grow up, to enter into that adventure, to choose a path.
