In the early days of The Bash Street Kids strip, Class 2B had a varying cast of up to 28 kids. At the moment there appear to be only ten students, which isn’t reflective of many kids’ school experience, so we decided it’s time to let readers meet more of Class 2B.

Mandi and Harsha have now joined the Bash Street Kids and over the next year more characters will be introduced. All will be much-loved Beano characters who live in Beanotown and have always attended Bash Street School but will now join Class 2B to cause mischief and mayhem each week. Frederick “Fatty” Brown is also now called “Freddy” because our readers asked us to make that change.

Just like in 1954 when the Bash Street Kids were created based upon the hilarious antics spotted in the school yard outside the Beano office, kids are still the main inspiration for Beano characters and storylines.

All of the original Bash Street Kids characters will continue to feature in the Bash Street Kids strip and David Sutherland will continue to draw the comic in the unique style enjoyed by millions.
