Creating a digital experience to go alongside a children’s book can be difficult, in a world where kids have so many avenues to consume content.

Rather than trying to make a game or interactive digital narrative, we wanted to figure out how to make the words really jump off the page.

Taking a cue from picture books with sound buttons and ‘turn the page’ story tapes from our collective childhood, we digitised that method of interactive reading by making it sound amazing.

No seriously, we created some amazing sounds to go alongside every Zap, Splat aand Boom in the Battle for Bash Street Boomic and presented them as a soundboard with eight sound effects for each chapter.

With a total of 150 sounds, we pushed some boundaries in making a more expansive soundboard than our previous digital toys and have created an incredible read-a-long experience for our readers.
