Uniq Inventive CG Production

We had to create the opening title sequence for this feature film by Tim Burton.

Tim wanted us to create something which gives the viewers clues of what they are about to see without giving away too much. And of course be dark and alternative about it.

We had lots of assets from the actual set so we used those to create various footages and then comped them together with several CG elements. I had to create tons of different types of unique looking CG smokes. We then used those for revealing things throughout the sequence. The task involved billions of particles, about 20TB of simulation cache and countless nights of rendering. Lots of things happen throughout the sequence with hundreds of layers involved but it all comes down to a nice Tim Burton styled alternative piece.

We used Cinema 4D for creating the 3D assets and dynamic simulations. X-Particles and TurbulenceFD for simulating the smoke. Arnold for rendering. After Effects for compositing.
