I was invited by The New Statesman magazine from the UK to illustrate an article about such a powerful woman for this latest issue of the magazine.

I started the visualisation process in my head and spent a day for more research and gathering materials about Shulie.

While I worked on it I tried to add some symbolic elements as well as some metaphoric too. Red stands for power, bravery when it comes to articulation of her visions, anarchism. I split her portrait - it symbolises feminism that was understood and supported by many, but also had enemies (even within the circles of feminists). I also thought of her later illness and thought that was a powerful way to illustrate schizophrenia. Added fists and megaphone to highlight her personality, these also indicate Sulies' activities she led and was involved in. In the background you will see added is a page, this refers to often meetings, manifestations, schedules, plans she has gotten herself into. I also added one of her 'quotes' as well as an indication of her nationality.

Feminist symbol seem disconnected, but I saw it as quintessence hence moved out slightly so the viewer won't miss it.

If you look closer, there is an embryo added - her chest level, I think it is a strong and powerful addition, since it's what her predictions of cyberfeminism were.
