To kick off the promotional campaign for their hit comedy series Baskets, the team at FX conceived of a teaser featuring the show's main characters alongside the Bakersfield Bullet Train, executed in a unique painterly style.

We used a phased approach to realize FX' vision for the campaign. After we were aligned on storyboard and style frames, our 2D team rotoscoped footage of Zach Galifianakis and Louie Anderson to create a pencil rough. Next, shading reference was added and each detail was meticulously painted frame by frame. Lastly, our composite team jumped in to add the final touches.
