Across 2018 I worked as a Producer/Director on a project for the mining company Glencore; this project started out large and then grew even larger as the filming went on throughout the year.



This project began as an £80k project and ended as a £200k plus project with over 100 individual deliverables.



What was originally five individual films focusing on safety achievements in specific geographies grew into 6 films (when we met the Zambian national rugby team captain who also happened to be a miner we had to make an extra film focusing on him!) and then was eventually split them into 12 films - six person-centric, feel good films for social media use and six more in depth films for internal and external (YouTube and Linked in only) use.



These films were filmed in 4 different continents (Africa, North America, Europe and Central Asia), in 5 different countries (Zambia, S.Africa, Kazakhstan, Canada and Switzerland) and in 4 different languages (English, French Canadian, Russian and Swiss-German) and the final delivery of these films included subtitles in five different languages (the above four plus Latin American Spanish).

As the Producer/Director, I was in charge of the entire project, from initial brief to final delivery. I helped the comms team in the casting of the "heroes", drafted the interview questions and created the films' narratives alongside arranging all crew (a team of three- 2 cameramen and myself) and all the arrangements for shooting abroad (Carnets, VISAs, insurance, injections, hotels and transport).



All in all, I was out of the country working on these films for over four weeks in Africa, three weeks in Canada and two weeks in Kazakhstan and have now visited a number of places I never even knew existed beforehand including Ridder and Ust-Kamenogorst; Sudbury and Matagami and Goedgevonden, Rustenburg and Mufulira. I managed the difficulties in language, cultures, roads and the very difficult day when both cameramen managed to get themselves hospitalised, one with suspected malaria (fortunately not) and the other having electrocuted himself plugging into a mine plug (during electrical safety week no less).



I also worked with a Russian speaking crew in Kazakhstan supplied by the mining company, which tested my skills of mime and quick draw storyboarding.
