In my project Motherhood Reimagined, I aimed to create a fashion editorial that reflected the current image of motherhood today but also taking inspiration from classical art depictions. Such as the artworks of the Madonna by Bouguereau and impressionist painter Mary Cassatt. I wanted to represent the climate of today, where now more than ever we are seeing a rise in biracial family units. The image of a mother and child is no longer the typical white representation that was seen in the past depictions of the Madonna. As a culture we are moving to a more inclusive image in media particularly in fashion, Dr. Ronald Milon the chief diversity officer at the Fashion Institute of Technology is quoted explaining, "This is not a fad; diversity and sustainability will continue to grow and be the dominant thing in the industry."
