ABOUT

The Botanical Garden of Peter the Great is one of the oldest botanical gardens in Russia, located on Aptekarsky Island in St. Petersburg. It occupies the territory between the Aptekarskaya Embankment of the Bolshaya Nevka, the Karpovka Embankment, Aptekarsky Prospekt and Professor Popov Street.

Tulips are the favorite flowers of Peter the Great, it was the Russian emperor who brought the bulbs of Dutch tulips to Russia for the first time, where now these flowers are one of the most beloved and popular.

The modern greenhouse collection includes more than 13,000 taxa. Most of the collection is grown from seeds obtained from other botanical gardens, about a third of the collection are species brought from natural habitats.
