ABOUT

Mahiki Manchester

Mahiki is the biggest Tiki bar in the world and has been much imitated since first opening in 2005 on Dover Street in Mayfair. Mahiki quickly became the talk of the capital as it saw celebs from royalty (Princes William and Harry) to, well, not royalty (Paris Hilton) sampling their Sushi and famous Treasure Chest Cocktails. From there the Mahiki brand expanded to Ibiza, Dubai, Marbella and Sardinia, with Kensington set to open soon.

Arch Creative have been commissioned to create a suite of marketing design collateral to help launch their latest venture in Manchester.

We wanted to communicate the origin of Tiki – a kitschy theme that began in 1930s American bars and restaurants like Don The Beachcombers and Trader Vic’s, which became a cultural phenomenon in the late ’50s and early ’60s. The overarching aesthetic is Polynesian – think hula skirts, surfboards, flower garlands and rum.

To date, we’ve been developing a distinct look for Mahiki Manchester that still chimes with the original brand and everything we’ve created has expressed the ‘Aloha spirit’ – the ethos and atmosphere that flows through the brand.

We’ve illustrated a series of new pin-up style Mahiki girls – or ‘Hula Honeys’ as they are affectionately known. Using vibrant colours, rustic textures and evocative Tiki imagery, coupled with a fresh tone of voice which screams hedonism and personality.

Our work has extended far beyond the highly successful launch as we’ve created a wide range of event sub-brands and have developed these across a multitude of channels including:

- Social imagery / campaigns
- Mobile responsive Eshots
- Interactive PDF’s
- Printed menus
- Bumpers & Animations
- Snapchat filters
- Interior graphics
- Copywriting
- Illustration
