ABOUT
The world is too full of people who would build walls - but Aramco build bridges. A bridge’s strength is not just in its structure, but in its ability to bring people together. What bridges do is simple: they connect. But what they remind us to do is exceptional: to reach out, to come together, to move forward. Our narrative interweaves visuals of the world's most incredible bridges as a visual metaphor for how Aramco connects with those around the world.
This film premiered at the annual Aramco Board of Directors event, which was attended by the Board of Directors, visiting dignitaries and partners, internal employees, international customers, and media. This year’s event emphasised Aramco’s relationship with Asia, so the vast majority of the audience were Saudi Arabian and Asian. When posted online, it was seen by visitors to the Aramco website and online channels, the general public of Saudi Arabia, and potential employees.
Our objective was to underscore Aramco’s commitment to partnering with Asia, showcasing the projects Aramco has in the region. The film had to cover the value that Aramco creates for its stakeholders, and the ways that the company combines its resources, partnerships and people to play a unique role in global energy supply, while showcasing innovation, technological leadership and the development of new lower-carbon energy solutions. It also had to incorporate the event theme of ‘Connecting Continents’.
The film premiered at the Board of Directors event in Singapore, where it was delivered in English, Arabic, Mandarin, Korean, and Japanese and shown on a curved screen 40m wide. After the event, the film will be screened at events and to Aramco visitors, distributed to internal employees and external and online audiences through social channels.
To show the mutual relationship between Saudi Arabia and Asia, each of the 14 Aramco projects we discover is part of a pair which, in the edit, comes together in a visual dance of parallels. A trading floor in Singapore transitions into a Catalyst lab in Saudi Arabia; data from a reservoir in the desert is analysed by a data scientist in Beijing; Asian students at KAUST participate in a seminar run by a Saudi professor.
The event itself was held at the Marina Bay Sands Hotel, which stands right outside the Helix Bridge. Our audience would have just made the trip over this iconic, world-famous bridge, and seeing it onscreen at the climax of our film underscored the significance of this moment.
