ABOUT

My collection is based around the Mughal era and the influence that the Muslim leader Akbar had in bridging the relationship between Muslims and Hindus living together. He introduced/championed the now famous Banarasi fabric that is a staple in saris worn by women in India and across the globe. The Mughal Art and the Banarasi details influenced my prints and the Mughal clothing influenced by garment silhouette. The idea of "can the sari be reinvented?" also influenced one of my print designs in an ode to Bananas saris.
