ABOUT
Launched December 2012, the 59th Spotify app was approved giving 14 million+ Spotify subscribers the access to the newly created playlists on Best Things On Earth. With 8000+ lists, 2000 (and growing) of these are music track based and ripe for playlist creation.
As the lists get voted and modified on the website, so they change on the Spotify App. This gives Spotify users a great mechanism for browsing and finding playlists of tracks my individual artists such as the Best David Bowie Song On Earth or in more specific categories such as the Best 60s UK Psychedelic Pop Song On Earth.
The Spotify app itself is built of a lightweight HTML/CSS/javascript framework utilsiing both Spotify's built in APIs and also by connecting to Best Things On Earth's own RESTful API.
The core web application creates and manages the playlists via a queuing mechanism and the libspotify C++ framework.
Spotify iframe APIs allow the playlists to be played directly from the website as well.
